Allergan Aesthetics, a subsidiary of AbbVie, opened its third U.S. Allergan Medical Institute (AMI) training center in Austin, Texas, on April 7 2026. The new facility corrects the earlier mis‑statement that it was located in Irvine, California, and confirms that Austin is the third center in the U.S. after the Irvine and Atlanta locations.
The Austin center offers hands‑on instruction across the full Allergan Aesthetics portfolio, including facial injectables, body contouring, skincare and regenerative medicine. The training program emphasizes advanced injection techniques, complication management and practice development, aiming to improve provider proficiency and patient outcomes.
The opening is part of a broader strategy to deepen provider engagement and strengthen AbbVie’s market presence in the rapidly growing medical aesthetics segment. The training centers are a network of interactive learning environments designed to train healthcare professionals in the use of Allergan’s aesthetic products, supporting the company’s goal of maintaining market leadership and driving future sales.
The medical aesthetics market is expanding, driven by increasing consumer interest in non‑invasive procedures and rising disposable income. By investing in provider education, Allergan Aesthetics helps maintain provider expertise and loyalty, which in turn enhances brand loyalty and supports the company’s long‑term growth prospects.
"The opening of AMI Austin represents another important milestone in our commitment to elevating aesthetics education standards. By expanding into Austin, we're increasing access to robust training that supports excellence in patient care while delivering the education customers need to succeed," said Glen Curran, Senior Vice President, U.S., Allergan Aesthetics.
"I am honored to be the Medical Director for AMI Training Centers and to play a pivotal role in the development and ongoing evolution of these facilities and the programming offered within. Continued investment in medical education, paired with a strong community of supportive peers, helps any provider achieve their full potential of excellence. I look forward to seeing the impact that AMI will continue to have on the aesthetics community," said Dr. Saami Khalifian, Medical Director for AMI Training Centers.
The Austin center is the third U.S. AMI training center, following the Irvine center scheduled to open in 2025 and the Atlanta center. The expansion reflects Allergan Aesthetics’ commitment to expanding its training footprint and supporting the broader AbbVie strategy of deepening provider engagement in the aesthetics segment.
