Airbnb announced that Gus Fuldner, a former Uber executive, will assume the role of Global Head of Operations on March 16, 2026. In the new position he will oversee the company’s community support, fraud and safety teams, and the AirCover insurance program, all of which are being consolidated under an AI‑powered service platform.
Fuldner spent 12 years at Uber, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Core Services. In that capacity he managed the safety, customer support, payments, insurance, and identity systems that supported millions of rides and transactions each day, giving him deep experience in scaling complex, global operations.
Airbnb’s Q4 2025 results showed revenue of $2.78 billion, up 12% year‑over‑year, and an adjusted EBITDA margin of 28.3%. Core stays and experiences contributed the majority of the growth, while the hotel segment continued to expand its share of the overall booking volume.
The appointment is part of Airbnb’s strategy to unify its support functions under a single AI‑driven platform. By consolidating community support, fraud, safety, and insurance, the company aims to reduce guest and host complaints, streamline the booking experience, and improve operational efficiency across its global network.
This move also strengthens Airbnb’s competitive position against hotels and other online travel agencies. The AI‑powered platform is intended to enhance trust and personalization, helping Airbnb differentiate itself in markets where hotels dominate and price competition is intense.
The hiring follows other recent leadership changes, including the appointment of Ahmad Al‑Dahle as Chief Technology Officer in January 2026, signaling a broader effort to bolster the executive team for the next phase of growth.
Brian Chesky has emphasized that the new executive will unify distributed functions and bring a blend of detail orientation and big‑picture thinking. He noted that Fuldner’s experience at Uber will help Airbnb address operational challenges and accelerate the rollout of AI initiatives.
With Fuldner’s operational expertise and the company’s focus on AI integration, Airbnb expects to improve service quality, reduce operational friction, and accelerate its expansion into new verticals such as hotels and experiences.
