Autodesk today introduced a new platform, Autodesk for Small Business, that provides a dedicated hub on Autodesk.com, streamlined product options, and a lower minimum token purchase for Autodesk Flex. The launch also includes a free Autodesk Professional Certification exam voucher with the purchase of AutoCAD and a plan to expand the hub to additional countries later in 2026.

The move targets a market where 36 % of the design and manufacturing workforce works as freelancers or contractors, and small businesses in the sector grew nearly 10 % in 2025. An additional 18 % of professionals in the field are considering starting their own businesses in 2026, underscoring the potential customer base for the new platform.

Autodesk’s financial foundation is strong, with $7.2 billion in revenue over the last twelve months and a 92 % gross profit margin. Prior quarter results show Q1 FY2025 revenue of $1.42 billion and Q4 FY2025 revenue of $1.64 billion. Segment data from Q4 FY2026 shows Design revenue at $1.61 billion (82.2 % of total), Make revenue at $218 million (11.1 %), and Other revenue at $130 million (6.6 %).

The platform launch aligns with Autodesk’s convergence strategy, which seeks to integrate design and manufacturing through cloud‑based services, artificial intelligence, and common data environments. By focusing on small businesses, Autodesk aims to open new revenue streams, strengthen its ecosystem, and enhance customer stickiness as these firms grow into larger enterprises.

Chief Marketing Officer Dara Treseder said, “We’ve heard directly from our customers that they need more flexibility, more clarity, and technology that reflects how they actually work.” The lower minimum token purchase for Autodesk Flex reduces upfront commitment for small teams, while the free certification voucher encourages skill development and professional recognition among new users.

The introduction of Autodesk for Small Business positions the company to capture a larger share of the estimated $10 billion design‑software market, supports the growth of small firms into larger enterprises, and reinforces Autodesk’s competitive advantage in a rapidly evolving cloud‑and‑AI‑driven industry.
