Ameren Corporation announced that the next phase of its Common Information Model (CIM)‑based Grid Network Model Management (GNMM) program has entered production, with the new network model now publishing directly to the company’s Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) and its distribution planning platform, Synergi Electric. The deployment, led by Xtensible, a subsidiary of SAM, was completed on April 21, 2026.

The new production‑grade model is built on AspenTech’s Cimphony platform and provides a single source of truth for sub‑transmission and distribution assets. By feeding CIM data into ADMS and Synergi, Ameren can automate outage response, monitor asset health in real time, and run more accurate planning studies, all of which support the company’s broader capital plan and regulatory framework that prioritizes reliable service and efficient investment recovery.

The deployment is a key milestone in Ameren’s grid‑modernization strategy, which aims to accommodate the growing demand from data‑center customers and other high‑capacity loads. The enhanced modeling capability will allow the utility to better forecast load growth, evaluate transmission projects, and maintain grid resilience as the company expands its clean‑energy portfolio.

Management has emphasized that modernizing the grid is essential for keeping Missouri and Illinois attractive to new businesses. "Our continued focus on modernizing our infrastructure is designed to make sure Missouri remains an attractive destination for new and expanding businesses," said Ajay Arora, senior vice president and chief development officer of Ameren Missouri.

While the announcement does not include specific performance metrics, the integration of CIM data into ADMS and Synergi is expected to deliver measurable improvements in outage restoration times, asset utilization, and planning accuracy, reinforcing Ameren’s competitive position in the regulated utility market.
