Aeva Technologies announced that Nikon Corporation has begun commercial deployment of its APDIS MV5X laser radar system, which incorporates Aeva’s Eve high‑precision sensor technology. This marks the first time Nikon will use Aeva’s FMCW‑based sensors in a production‑grade inspection platform, expanding Aeva’s reach into the industrial automation and metrology markets.

The MV5X system is engineered for automated robotic inspection across automotive, aerospace, and energy sectors, delivering micron‑level precision, faster data acquisition, and a more compact architecture. By integrating Aeva’s Eve sensors, Nikon aims to improve measurement accuracy and throughput while reducing overall system size.

The contract diversifies Aeva’s revenue beyond automotive, positioning the company in a high‑growth industrial sensor market. It demonstrates the scalability of Aeva’s unified perception platform and could open further opportunities with other industrial automation vendors.

Aeva reported Q1 2025 revenue of $3.4 million, up from $2.1 million in Q1 2024, with a GAAP operating loss of $30.4 million. Full‑year 2025 revenue reached $18.1 million, a 100 % year‑over‑year increase, but the company recorded a non‑GAAP operating loss of $102 million. The Nikon deal adds a new revenue stream that could help offset ongoing operating losses as the company scales its sensor shipments and NRE revenues.

CEO Soroush Salehian said the company is at an inflection point, progressing on major automotive programs and securing additional commercial wins in new markets. The Nikon partnership exemplifies the strategic shift toward industrial automation and broader market penetration.

By integrating Aeva’s FMCW LiDAR‑on‑chip technology into Nikon’s established inspection platform, the partnership validates Aeva’s technology for high‑precision industrial applications. The deployment could accelerate adoption of Aeva’s sensors in other industrial automation vendors, strengthening its competitive position in a market that values micron‑level accuracy and compact solutions.
