Abundia Global Impact Group announced a licensing agreement with Danish catalyst manufacturer Topsoe to deploy the HydroFlex technology at its Baytown, Texas recycling facility, expanding the company’s renewable fuels platform and adding a proven catalytic conversion process that can upgrade plastic waste into high‑value hydrocarbons.

The HydroFlex technology, a hydrotreating process developed in 2004 and deployed globally since 2010, will complement Abundia’s existing pyrolysis approach and broaden the range of feedstocks that can be processed at the Baytown plant, accelerating its path to commercial operation.

The agreement includes a long‑term commitment to deploy HydroFlex at multiple future facilities, positioning Abundia to strengthen the bankability of its technology configuration and support disciplined execution of its 2026 commercialization plan.

Management comments: "HydroFlex® is recognized globally for its industry leading performance, reliability, and ability to produce high quality renewable fuels and chemicals that meet or exceed international specifications. The inclusion of Topsoe's upgrade solution to our technology stack meaningfully de‑risks our development path, reinforces the bankability of our technology configuration, and supports disciplined execution of our 2026 commercialization plan." – Ed Gillespie, CEO. "Topsoe's technology and solutions are enabling the conversion of liquified plastic waste to fuels. This exciting project will increase the production of renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel in the United States." – Henrik Rasmussen, Managing Director of Topsoe Americas.

Despite the strategic advance, Abundia’s financial health remains a concern. Recent analysis shows negative margins and no revenue growth over the past three years, with a net margin of –9,762.83%. The company raised $20 million in a direct offering in February 2026 to fund project development and debt reduction, underscoring the high‑risk, high‑reward nature of its growth strategy.

The Baytown facility will also integrate Topsoe’s HydroFlex with a front‑end conversion technology from Alterra Energy, creating a vertically integrated waste‑to‑value pathway that aligns with the broader industry shift toward chemical recycling and circular economy solutions.
