Assurant, Inc. (NYSE: AIZ) has entered the Dutch market by partnering with Hollandsnieuwe, a leading online mobile operator, to launch a device protection program for Hollandsnieuwe customers. The program covers accidental damage, theft, and loss, and is built on Assurant’s embedded insurance platform.
The move is part of Assurant’s broader European expansion strategy. In October 2025 the company partnered with Odido, another Dutch operator, to offer an AppleCare‑backed insurance scheme. Felipe Sanchez, who was appointed President of Assurant Europe in February 2025, said, "This partnership deepens our presence in the Dutch market and reflects our focus on enabling mobile operators to offer high‑quality protection experiences to their customers."
Hollandsnieuwe positions itself as an "honest telecom provider" that offers customers control over costs, straightforward products, and clear communication on a reliable network at a competitive price. The partnership allows Hollandsnieuwe to offer its first device protection service, enhancing its value proposition to subscribers.
The new program offers two coverage options: Standard Protection, which covers accidental damage, and Premium Protection, which covers accidental damage, theft, and loss. A one‑working‑day fulfillment service is also available to ensure rapid claim resolution.
By entering the Netherlands, Assurant expands its geographic footprint and adds a new customer base to its growing portfolio of mobile device protection contracts, positioning the company for further growth in the European market.
