Akamai Technologies announced a new expansion of its security partnership with Deutsche Telekom Security, a key member of Akamai’s Partner Connect program. The deal will allow Deutsche Telekom Security to deploy Akamai’s Security Certified Service Provider (SCP) framework to its customers across finance, insurance, critical infrastructure and public‑sector markets, delivering a full suite of Day‑2 operations services.

Under the agreement, Deutsche Telekom Security will provide hybrid‑deployment support, quarterly business reviews, API audits and compliance checks, as well as expert incident management and proactive API‑security testing. The partnership also extends support for Akamai Guardicore micro‑segmentation environments, offering segmentation administration, incident management and audit services that can run on a sovereign‑cloud platform—an arrangement that meets strict data‑residency and compliance requirements for regulated customers.

Strategically, the partnership adds a large European partner that can scale Akamai’s API‑security and micro‑segmentation solutions to a broad customer base. It positions Akamai to capture new revenue streams in regulated sectors, where demand for API protection and lateral‑movement prevention is accelerating. The deal aligns with the industry’s response to the 150 billion API attacks recorded between 2023 and 2024, underscoring the urgency of robust API‑security capabilities.

Akamai’s recent earnings have highlighted a shift from its legacy CDN delivery business to high‑margin security and cloud‑computing services. While the Delivery segment has seen a decline, the Security and Cloud Computing segments have delivered strong growth, offsetting headwinds and reinforcing Akamai’s transformation strategy. The partnership dovetails with this trajectory, providing a channel to deepen penetration in regulated markets where Akamai’s security stack is already gaining traction.

Although no specific financial impact figures were disclosed, the partnership is expected to open new revenue opportunities and strengthen Akamai’s competitive positioning in Europe. By leveraging Deutsche Telekom Security’s extensive customer network, Akamai can more effectively compete against other security vendors such as Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet and Check Point, particularly in sectors that demand stringent compliance and sovereign‑cloud capabilities.

The expansion also signals Akamai’s continued focus on strategic partner enablement through its Partner Connect program, launched in Q3 2025. The program aims to simplify partner engagement, provide localized tiering and align incentives with Akamai’s core security offerings, thereby accelerating joint go‑to‑market initiatives and expanding the reach of Akamai’s security portfolio.
