Autoliv, Inc. and Japanese motorcycle‑gear manufacturer RS Taichi have announced the launch of the RS Taichi Airbag Vest T‑SABE, the first fully engineered wearable airbag vest designed for motorcyclists. The vest will debut at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show on March 27‑29, 2026.

The vest integrates Autoliv’s proven airbag deployment system into a motorcycle‑style jacket. RS Taichi will supply the riding‑gear platform and handle market launch, while Autoliv provides the integrated airbag module and deployment electronics. The collaboration marks a strategic expansion of Autoliv’s product portfolio beyond automotive passive safety into the growing motorcycle rider‑safety market.

Autoliv’s move into wearable safety gear aligns with tightening rider‑protection regulations and rising consumer demand for advanced protective equipment. The motorcycle safety market is expected to grow as governments adopt stricter safety standards and riders seek higher levels of protection. By leveraging its airbag expertise in a wearable format, Autoliv positions itself to capture a share of this expanding market.

In 2025, Autoliv reported sales of $10.8 billion, with its products saving approximately 40,000 lives and reducing around 600,000 injuries. The new vest represents a diversification strategy that could broaden revenue streams and reinforce Autoliv’s “Saving More Lives” mission.

Fabien Dumont, Autoliv’s Chief Technology Officer, said, “The collaboration with RS Taichi serves as another milestone in delivering on our commitment to expand mobility safety and develop cutting‑edge protective systems for motorcycle riders.” He added, “By working closely with partners like RS Taichi, who design and manufacture motorcycle rider gear, we can bring proven protection and raise the bar for rider safety.”

Hirohiko Yoshimura, President & CEO of RS Taichi, commented, “Our passion for creating high quality riding gear has now come together with Autoliv, a company that leads the global standard in safety. The new vest T‑SABE is designed not only to protect riders, but also to provide a comfortable and safe riding experience helping create a long lasting and enjoyable motorcycle lifestyle.”

The partnership underscores Autoliv’s strategy to extend its safety technology beyond cars, tapping into a market that is both growing and increasingly regulated. The launch of the T‑SABE vest signals a new revenue avenue and strengthens Autoliv’s position as a leader in safety innovation across multiple mobility sectors.
