CoreSite, a subsidiary of American Tower, announced on April 28 that it is adding 100Gbps Ethernet Virtual Circuits to its Open Cloud Exchange. The new bandwidth tier expands the platform’s software‑defined interconnection service, enabling customers to provision high‑throughput, low‑latency links to cloud providers, network service providers, and enterprise networks in minutes.

The 100Gbps EVCs are designed to meet the bandwidth demands of AI, machine learning, and high‑performance computing workloads that require sustained, low‑latency connectivity. By offering this capability, CoreSite positions itself as a leader in interconnection services and strengthens American Tower’s data‑center portfolio, which has become a key component of the company’s edge‑computing strategy.

A government customer has already leveraged the new 100Gbps connectivity to interconnect its Silicon Valley, Northern Virginia, and Orlando data‑center campuses, eliminating the need for multiple long‑haul carrier circuits. The launch is expected to attract cloud providers and enterprises seeking higher throughput for AI inference and multi‑cloud workloads, further expanding CoreSite’s customer base.

CoreSite’s VP of Interconnection Strategy, Matt Senderhauf, said the new capability “allows our customers to access CoreSite’s nationwide ecosystem on demand at the bandwidth level required to support today’s workloads.” He added that the platform “continues to deliver added value for our customers” and that the 100Gbps option “further establishes CoreSite as a connectivity leader for inter‑market connections to all major cloud regions in the United States, digital partners and between their deployments across the country.”

The launch aligns with American Tower’s broader strategy to capture edge‑computing opportunities. In its first‑quarter 2026 earnings, the company reported revenue of $2.74 billion and earnings per share of $1.84, exceeding analyst expectations. The new high‑bandwidth offering is part of the company’s effort to deepen its data‑center footprint and monetize interconnection services, which have become a significant revenue driver for the business.
