The Generation Essentials Group, a subsidiary of AMTD IDEA Group, completed the purchase of the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel at 39 6th Ave in New York City’s Tribeca district for US$69 million on March 9 2026. The property has been rebranded as the AMTD IDEA Tribeca Hotel.
The acquisition is part of TGE’s strategy to broaden its hospitality footprint and to create synergies with its media and entertainment businesses. The hotel is slated to become the “world’s first Art Newspaper House,” a move that will blend cultural programming with hotel operations and leverage the brand’s media reach.
AMTD IDEA Group’s overall earnings have trended downward over the past five years, but its digital arm, AMTD Digital, reported a 565.7% revenue increase in the fiscal year ending October 31 2025 after consolidating TGE. The new hotel adds a high‑profile asset that could help offset broader group headwinds and support future revenue growth.
TGE has already pursued a series of hotel acquisitions, totaling more than $300 million in December 2025, and the Tribeca property expands its portfolio into a premium urban market. The acquisition strengthens the hospitality segment’s contribution to the group’s overall revenue mix.
Press releases from AMTD IDEA Group describe the deal as a “strategic milestone for TGE’s hospitality portfolio” and highlight the opportunity to “unlock retail potential, operational synergies and long‑term value creation.”
The transaction positions AMTD IDEA Group to integrate its media, entertainment, and hospitality assets, creating cross‑promotional opportunities and new revenue streams while signaling confidence in real‑estate expansion despite recent earnings volatility.
