Rasmussen University, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Public Education, Inc., has selected D2L Brightspace to replace its existing Blackboard platform, with a pilot scheduled for May 2026 and a full rollout across all programs thereafter.
The change is intended to streamline administrative processes, enhance content creation through artificial intelligence, and deliver more engaging, inclusive learning experiences for students, particularly those in nursing, military, and veteran programs.
D2L Brightspace will also enable Rasmussen to deploy Lumi Tutor and Lumi Feedback, tools that provide tailored study support for learners and time‑saving features for educators, expected to improve student success and reduce faculty workload.
The adoption aligns with APEI’s broader strategy of consolidating its institutions and leveraging purpose‑built systems to improve student outcomes and operational efficiency; APEI previously adopted D2L Brightspace at APUS in 2019, indicating a positive track record.
The transition is part of a broader effort to modernize Rasmussen’s technology infrastructure and support its mission of delivering career‑ready education to military, veteran, and nursing students.
