Bimergen Energy has confirmed that its Redbird battery storage project in Texas has received formal approval under its Joint Development Agreement, clearing the way for milestone‑based capital deployment and a path toward construction debt and equity financing.
The 100 MW/400 MWh facility, located in the ERCOT market, will use Eos Energy Enterprises’ Z3 zinc‑based battery technology. The Z3 platform offers multi‑hour storage, enhanced safety, durability, and potential cost advantages, aligning with U.S. manufacturing incentives and the Inflation Reduction Act’s focus on domestic technology.
The JDA approval and technology commitment position Bimergen to advance Redbird toward construction financing, a critical milestone for generating its first development fees and building a track record for its broader 3.6 GW pipeline of utility‑scale battery storage projects.
"Redbird's participation under our Joint Development Agreement, combined with the selection of Eos's Z3™ technology, represents a defining step forward for Bimergen. This project reflects our disciplined development approach and our commitment to deploying safe, reliable, multi‑hour storage solutions that directly address Texas' accelerating power demand," said Cole Johnson, Co‑Chief Executive Officer of Bimergen Energy.
"We are excited to partner with Eos to execute this high‑impact project. With four hours of discharge capability and a structured capital framework in place, Redbird is positioned to deliver long‑term value while strengthening grid resilience across ERCOT," added Bob Brilon, Co‑Chief Executive Officer of Bimergen Energy.
"Projects like Redbird demonstrate the growing demand for dependable, American‑made storage that enhances reliability. Eos's Z3™ technology is engineered for safety, durability, and multi‑hour performance, and we are proud to support Bimergen as it advances Redbird toward commercial operations," said Nathan Kroeker, Chief Commercial Officer of Eos Energy.
