BK Technologies announced the public debut of its BKR9500 Multiband Mobile Radio on April 21, 2026, and the company will showcase the new device at the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) in Indianapolis from April 23‑25, 2026. The BKR9500 is a vehicle‑installed radio that extends BK’s land‑mobile radio (LMR) footprint into the mobile segment, complementing the company’s existing BKR9000 handheld line and providing a single‑vendor solution that pairs handheld and mobile radios.
The vehicle‑installed segment represents roughly 35‑40 % of the total LMR device market and contains an $800 million total addressable market. By entering this segment, BKTI positions itself to capture a larger share of that TAM and deepen customer relationships, potentially increasing revenue per agency through a bundled solution.
BKTI’s Vision 2030 strategy calls for doubling revenue to $170 million, reaching a 60 % gross margin and a 35 % EBITDA margin by 2030. The BKR9500 launch is a key driver of that plan. The BKR9000 series has already propelled revenue growth from $44 million in 2020 to $86 million in 2025 and expanded EBITDA margins from 3.5 % to over 20 % during the same period.
BKTI has guided 2026 revenue to $90 million and a gross margin above 50 %. Shipments of the BKR9500 are expected in early 2027, with backlog growth anticipated. CEO John Suzuki said, "The BKR9500 adds to our next generation multiband platform and expands our opportunity to capture a larger share of customer spend as agencies transition from single band to multiband radios. Initial customer feedback has been strong, and we expect this product to drive backlog growth in anticipation of shipments in early 2027."
General Manager Stephen Theisen added, "FDIC is the premier gathering of key decision makers across the fire service in the U.S., making it an ideal venue to introduce the BKR9500. This radio was purpose-built to address real-world interoperability challenges that agencies face every day. By enabling departments to enhance their existing infrastructure, rather than replace it, the BKR9500 reduces cost and complexity and makes the transition to multiband systems more achievable."
The BKR9500 launch strengthens BKTI’s competitive position against incumbents such as Motorola Solutions by offering a comprehensive multiband solution. Its entry into the vehicle‑installed segment expands the company’s addressable market and supports the Vision 2030 growth strategy, potentially increasing revenue per agency and reinforcing long-term customer relationships.
