CAE Inc. and German‑based TKMS announced a teaming agreement to support the Royal Canadian Navy’s Patrol Submarine Project (CPSP). The partnership combines TKMS’s expertise in designing and building conventional submarines with CAE’s global leadership in simulation‑based training and mission‑system support, creating a comprehensive training and sustainment solution for Canada’s future submarine fleet.

Under the agreement, CAE will deliver advanced simulation and training systems that replicate real‑world submarine operations, while TKMS will provide its Type 212CD submarine platform—an air‑independent propulsion (AIP) vessel designed for cold‑water, under‑ice operations. The Type 212CD’s AIP capability and Arctic‑ready design align with the CPSP’s requirement for conventionally‑powered, under‑ice capable submarines.

The CPSP aims to replace the aging Victoria‑class submarines with up to 12 new vessels, with the first submarine expected to enter service by 2035. TKMS was shortlisted alongside Hanwha Ocean in August 2025, and the partnership’s benefits for CAE are contingent on TKMS securing the CPSP contract. The agreement therefore represents a strategic positioning for CAE to participate in a major defense procurement program that could open additional opportunities in international naval projects.

The collaboration underscores CAE’s commitment to supporting Canada’s sovereign submarine capability and strengthening the domestic industrial base. While the financial terms of the teaming agreement were not disclosed, the partnership signals CAE’s intent to secure a role in a high‑profile defense program and to expand its presence in the global naval market.

The announcement does not provide immediate revenue figures, but it establishes a foundation for potential future earnings should TKMS win the CPSP contract and CAE’s training solutions be adopted by the Royal Canadian Navy.
