ChargePoint has introduced the Express Solo, a standalone DC fast‑charging unit that can deliver up to 600 kW to a single electric vehicle. The new charger represents the company’s next‑generation fast‑charging architecture and is positioned to compete with high‑power units from other EV‑infrastructure players.
The Express Solo will be available in North America and Europe, making it ChargePoint’s first DC fast charger designed for sale in both markets. The system was co‑developed with Eaton and incorporates bidirectional charging and battery‑storage integration capabilities, allowing it to serve as part of a broader grid‑management solution.
The charger can power up to four vehicles when paired with an additional dispenser, distributing power up to 600 kW per port in various combinations. ChargePoint claims the Express Solo delivers approximately 40 % higher power density than other DC charging solutions while occupying a smaller footprint, a key advantage for space‑constrained sites.
The launch aligns with ChargePoint’s shift toward lower‑cost, higher‑margin hardware and a stronger subscription‑enabled software model. Recent financial data show revenue declining year over year—$98 million in Q1 FY2026 versus $115.8 million in Q4 FY2024—yet subscription revenue grew 14 % to $38 million in the same period, and gross margin improved to 29 % GAAP from 22 % a year earlier. Operating expenses fell 10 % year over year, and the net loss narrowed to $57.1 million, a 20 % improvement. Cash and equivalents stood at $195.95 million as of April 30, 2025.
"The Express DC fast charging architecture delivers differentiation. Not just by higher output, but by how economically, efficiently, and flexibly that power is delivered," said Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint. "Combined with Eaton's end‑to‑end grid capabilities, ChargePoint is delivering solutions to help EVs win on pure economics, regardless of tax incentives or government support."
The Express Solo will be showcased at the Advanced Clean Transportation Expo in Las Vegas from May 4‑7, 2026, and its introduction is expected to strengthen ChargePoint’s competitive positioning in the high‑power DC fast‑charging market, attracting fleet operators and commercial customers seeking rapid, efficient charging solutions.
