Chipotle Mexican Grill announced the relaunch of its “Rewards on Repeat” program on April 13, 2026, adding a redesigned in‑app experience and new benefits for its 21 million active members.
The updated program introduces a comprehensive points tracker, enhanced gamification, and the ability for members to choose a birthday reward from options such as guacamole, queso, chips or a drink. In‑restaurant enrollment is supported by a multi‑channel campaign that includes menu panels, table tents, cups, receipts, cashwrap messaging and a crew incentive program designed to drive new sign‑ups at every location.
The relaunch is a core element of Chipotle’s “Recipe for Growth” strategy, which was launched after the company’s Q4 2025 earnings showed a 2.5% decline in comparable restaurant sales and a drop in restaurant‑level operating margin. By increasing the frequency and accessibility of rewards, Chipotle aims to boost transaction volumes, particularly in‑restaurant where only about 20% of sales are currently linked to the loyalty program compared with nearly 90% of digital transactions.
Management highlighted the strategic importance of the program. Curt Garner, President and Chief Strategy and Technology Officer, said the rewards platform now drives a significant portion of sales and connects the company to more than 21 million active members. CEO Scott Boatwright noted that the relaunch is part of the “Recipe for Growth” plan to target in‑restaurant customers and remove friction from the checkout experience.
The initiative is also positioned to attract younger consumers, especially Gen Z, who are increasingly active in loyalty programs. By expanding benefits and simplifying enrollment, Chipotle seeks to strengthen customer loyalty, increase repeat visits, and ultimately reverse the recent decline in comparable sales.
