Campbell Soup Company completed the acquisition of the remaining 49% stake in La Regina di San Marzano di Antonio Romano S.p.A. and La Regina Atlantica, the Italian manufacturer of Rao’s Homemade tomato‑based sauces, giving the company full control over the production of the premium sauce line.
The transaction follows Campbell’s 2017 purchase of a 51% stake in the Italian manufacturer, which valued the brand at $2.7 billion. By acquiring the remaining shares, Campbell now consolidates 100% of La Regina’s profit and loss, eliminating the minority interest and fully integrating the brand’s operations.
Full ownership allows Campbell to align pricing, quality, and innovation with its Rao’s brand strategy, potentially offsetting tariff headwinds and supporting the brand’s high‑single‑digit growth trajectory. The move is expected to strengthen Rao’s margins and secure the supply chain for Campbell’s premium sauce line.
The acquisition positions Campbell to better manage cost pressures and maintain a competitive advantage in the premium condiment market, while also providing greater flexibility in product development and pricing strategy.
