Corebridge Financial announced that Christopher Filiaggi, its Chief Accounting Officer, will become Interim Chief Financial Officer effective April 24, 2026. The appointment follows the departure of long‑time CFO Elias Habayeb, who will also leave on April 24. The announcement was made on April 15, 2026.
Filiaggi reports directly to President and CEO Marc Costantini and joins the Executive Leadership Team. The move is intended to preserve continuity in financial reporting, budgeting and investor relations as the company moves toward a fee‑based business model and completes its variable annuity reinsurance transaction, which closed in final portions on January 5, 2026.
Corebridge is also in the midst of a transformational merger with Equitable Holdings, announced on March 26, 2026. The interim CFO role is part of the transition plan to ensure a smooth integration. After the merger closes, Robin M. Raju, the current CFO of Equitable Holdings, is expected to assume the CFO position of the combined company.
The variable annuity reinsurance deal, completed in August 2025 and finalized in January 2026, has de‑risked Corebridge’s balance sheet and freed up capital that the company can use for share repurchases and other strategic initiatives. The fee‑based shift is expected to improve profitability and align Corebridge’s incentives with long‑term client outcomes.
Marc Costantini said, “Chris is a deeply respected leader within our world‑class finance team, with the experience and judgment to guide the organization through this transition. This internal appointment reflects the depth of talent and financial acumen we have at Corebridge.” The appointment signals confidence in the company’s internal talent pipeline and aims to reassure investors and stakeholders that financial controls remain robust during the leadership change.
