Star Princess docked at Seattle’s Pier 91 on May 3, 2026, marking the start of Carnival Corporation’s 2026 Alaska season and the first time a new sphere‑class vessel will operate in the Inside Passage.

The 177,800‑ton ship can accommodate 4,300 guests and is powered by liquefied natural gas. Its maiden voyage took place in October 2025, but it is now positioned to serve the Alaska market with advanced amenities and a larger capacity than the line’s existing fleet.

Princess Cruises will operate eight ships during the season, and the addition of Star Princess is the first sphere‑class vessel to join the Alaska roster. The move is part of a broader fleet‑modernization strategy that also includes the upcoming Voyager‑class ships, which will be even larger and more efficient.

Carnival’s Alaska strategy focuses on increasing capacity and enhancing the guest experience. The larger ship and LNG propulsion are expected to attract more passengers and support higher revenue growth, while the new amenities aim to differentiate the line in a market dominated by a few key competitors.

The company has pledged $160,000 to the Alaska communities of Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Sitka, underscoring its commitment to local economic development and community support.

With President Gus Antorcha and Captain Gennaro Arma aboard, the launch signals Carnival’s continued investment in the region and its intent to strengthen its market share in a highly competitive environment.
