Commvault announced the addition of Hitachi Vantara and NetApp to its Flex partner ecosystem on April 15, 2026, marking a significant expansion of the company’s purpose‑built data protection and resilience platform for AI‑heavy workloads.

Flex, formerly HyperScale Flex, is a disaggregated architecture that decouples compute from storage, allowing customers to scale performance and capacity independently. The new integrations enable Flex to connect directly to Hitachi Vantara’s VSP One data platform and NetApp’s data platform, both of which provide high‑performance flash storage pools and advanced ransomware detection. This gives enterprises greater choice and confidence to meet cyber‑recovery performance objectives while staying consistent with their preferred storage vendors.

The partnership targets organizations that manage very large, dynamic datasets. Industry forecasts project AI‑ready data center capacity to grow at an average of 33 % annually, and the expansion positions Commvault to capture that demand by offering a scalable, cost‑effective recovery solution that avoids overprovisioning and reduces total cost of ownership.

Financial context underscores the strategic importance of the move. In Q4 FY2025, Commvault reported total revenues of $275 million, up 23 % year‑over‑year, with subscription revenue up 45 %. In Q1 FY2026, revenues rose to $282 million, up 26 % YoY, and subscription revenue increased 46 %. These figures demonstrate a robust growth trajectory that the new partner ecosystem is designed to accelerate.

Management highlighted the strategic rationale behind the expansion. “Many organizations require solutions that provide uninterrupted access to data systems, address capacity requirements of large AI datasets, and meet performance requirements for resilience and recovery. Commvault Flex, in tandem with Hitachi Vantara, NetApp, and other partners, enables customers to scale their flash storage solutions to meet demands for multiple petabyte throughput,” said Pranay Ahlawat, Chief Technology and AI Officer.

The expansion complements Commvault’s broader AI strategy, which includes tools such as Data Activate, AI Protect, and AI Studio. By aligning with Hitachi Vantara and NetApp, Commvault strengthens its position in the competitive data protection landscape, where existing partners include Everpure, HPE, and VAST Data. The move is expected to enhance customer confidence, expand market reach, and reinforce Commvault’s ability to deliver resilient, AI‑ready data protection at scale.
