Carvana announced the addition of an Inspection and Reconditioning Center (IRC) to its ADESA Syracuse wholesale auction site, expanding its reconditioning capacity and creating approximately 200 new jobs in Central New York.
The new IRC will integrate with Carvana’s existing 16 ADESA locations, allowing the company to streamline inspection, repair, and refurbishment processes under its proprietary CARLI platform. This integration is part of Carvana’s broader strategy to build a physical‑digital moat and accelerate delivery times for New York buyers while expanding the inventory pool for customers nationwide.
"Integrating IRC capabilities at ADESA Syracuse is another step forward in building a faster, more efficient, more productive Carvana network," said Brian Boyd, Senior Vice President of Inventory. The expansion supports Carvana’s goal of scaling to 3 million retail units annually by increasing throughput and reducing turnaround times.
Carvana’s acquisition of ADESA in May 2022 for $2.2 billion has been a cornerstone of its vertical‑integration plan. By adding IRCs to ADESA sites, the company can control quality, reduce costs, and maintain a competitive edge in a market where traditional dealers struggle to match the speed and scale of a digitally‑enabled operation.
The Syracuse IRC will provide faster delivery speeds for New York car buyers and broaden vehicle selection for retail customers across the country. The expansion also signals Carvana’s continued investment in its reconditioning network, reinforcing its commitment to operational excellence and long‑term growth.
