Data I/O Corporation launched a redesigned website at www.dataio.com and announced a new Programming‑as‑a‑Service (PaaS) offering and next‑generation programming platforms on April 13 2026.

The refreshed site is positioned as a “whole new Data I/O” and signals the company’s broader transformation beyond its traditional hardware focus.

The PaaS model is a multi‑year managed service that will provide customers with reliable, cost‑effective programming without the need for in‑house equipment, creating a new recurring revenue stream.

The next‑generation platforms promise 30‑second cycles for microcontrollers and a throughput of more than 2,200 devices per hour, with a smaller footprint, higher reliability, and easier changeover—features that address the growing demand for high‑density flash in automotive and other markets.

The announcement comes amid Q4 2025 results that showed a net loss of $2.5 million, net sales of $4.0 million, and a gross margin of 43.0 %, down from a $1.2 million loss, $5.2 million in sales, and 52.2 % margin in Q4 2024. Automotive electronics customers represent about 55 % of the company’s revenue.

Management highlighted the strategic shift: “What we are building at Data I/O goes well beyond new products — it is a whole new Data I/O,” said President and CEO William Wentworth. “We are looking at programming speeds of 30 seconds or less on our new systems focused on microcontrollers. At that speed, we are talking about 2,200‑plus devices per hour — in a smaller footprint, with a much more reliable system, easy changeover, and the ability to handle small parts.”

The move to digital tools, AI‑driven services, and recurring revenue aligns with the company’s goal of long‑term growth, which management says is about a year ahead of schedule. Data IO is the largest company in the semiconductor programming industry, with 50 years of experience, and is targeting automotive electronics—a market expected to triple by 2030.

The company also faced a cybersecurity incident in August 2025 that was contained and remediated, and its LumenX2 platform received a 2026 NPI Award, underscoring its resilience and commitment to innovation.
