3D Systems announced that its NextDent Jetted Denture Solution has received Class IIa certification under the European Union Medical Device Regulation (MDR 2017/745), allowing the company to commercialize the entire denture workflow in the EU immediately. The launch is scheduled for May 4, 2026, two months ahead of the previously targeted summer timeline.

The certification was attained on March 17, 2026, and the announcement was made on April 28, 2026. The solution comprises the NextDent 300 MultiJet printer, Jet Base, and Jet Teeth materials, and represents the industry’s first monolithic, multi‑material jetted denture workflow. The product was previously launched in the U.S. in July 2025 following FDA 510(k) clearance.

The EU market is comparable to or larger than the U.S., with an addressable population of over 60 million edentulous patients. By gaining Class IIa approval, 3D Systems expands its high‑value dental platform into a multi‑billion‑dollar opportunity and unlocks recurring revenue from premium materials and services.

"Achieving Class IIa MDR certification for our NextDent Jetted Denture Solution is a major milestone that validates the strength of our clinical data, quality systems, and innovation pipeline. By launching in Europe on May 4, well ahead of our original summer timeline, we are immediately expanding access to this transformative technology for dental labs and clinics across the region. This clearance substantially increases our available addressable market for this high‑value platform," said Jeffrey Graves, President and CEO. "As adoption accelerates in both the U.S. and Europe, we expect it to drive significant recurring revenue through premium materials while reinforcing our position as the leading full‑service provider in digital dentistry."

Financially, 3D Systems reported Q1 2025 revenue of $94.5 million, a gross profit margin of 34.6%, and a net loss of $37.0 million. In Q1 2024, revenue was $102.9 million, the gross profit margin was 39.8%, and the net loss was $16.0 million. The company withdrew its full‑year 2025 guidance due to concerns about customer capital‑investment spending, underscoring the importance of new product launches like the NextDent solution for future growth.

The Class IIa certification is a material regulatory milestone that positions 3D Systems to capture a share of the denture segment, reinforces its focus on personalized healthcare and digital dentistry, and signals confidence in its execution and market expansion strategy.
