Denny’s Names Christopher Bode as President and CEO, Launches Project Grand Slam

Denny’s Corporation announced that Christopher Bode will serve as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. The appointment was made on April 13 2026, the same day the company completed its transition from a public to a private entity after the acquisition by TriArtisan Capital Advisors, Treville Capital Group and Yadav Enterprises closed on January 16 2026.

Bode brings more than three decades of restaurant industry leadership, including a decade at Dunkin’ Brands and a tenure as Chief Operating Officer and President of Hardee’s USA. A Navy veteran, he previously held the role of President and Chief Operating Officer at Denny’s, positioning him to drive the brand’s modernization and franchise‑support initiatives.

The new CEO will steer a 24‑month roadmap called Project Grand Slam, which focuses on culinary innovation, digital expansion and operational excellence. The plan includes the rollout of virtual brands, enhanced mobile ordering platforms and a renewed emphasis on franchisee performance, aiming to strengthen margins and improve the overall system’s competitiveness.

Financially, Denny’s reported total operating revenue of $111.6 million in Q1 2025, a slight increase from $110.0 million in the prior year quarter, while domestic system‑wide same‑restaurant sales fell 3.0% year‑over‑year. The company also closed more than 100 locations in 2024 and 2025, reflecting a broader effort to trim underperforming units as it repositions its core diner business.

"I am honored to lead this iconic brand into its next chapter. As we've transitioned from a public to a private company, we've approached our path forward with real examination, real adjustments and a clearer focus on the things that actually move performance in our restaurants. We are operating in a difficult economic environment, but private ownership gives us more freedom to look at the business honestly, move faster where change is needed and make adjustments quickly. I am confident that we have the right plan in place to emerge as real winners," Bode said.

"Chris is a transformational leader who understands the heart and soul of this brand and the discipline required to run a global franchise system. His ability to bridge the gap between high‑level corporate strategy and 'boots‑on‑the‑ground' execution is exactly what we need to accelerate our growth. We are fully aligned in our vision to make Denny’s the undisputed leader in the family dining space once again," Anil Yadav, Chief Transformation Officer and Interim CEO, added.
