8x8, Inc. announced the launch of Silent Mobile Authentication in the Philippines, a new security feature that removes the need for one‑time passwords by verifying users through mobile network and SIM‑based signals.
The solution is built on PLDT Enterprise’s SmartSafe SilentAccess API, enabling frictionless verification that protects against spoofing, SIM‑swap attacks, and other mobile fraud vectors that are increasingly common in the region.
The launch is part of 8x8’s broader CPaaS expansion in Southeast Asia. The company has built a strong regional presence through the 2019 acquisition of Wavecell and the January 2026 acquisition of Maven Lab, both of which broadened its product portfolio and customer base in the Philippines and neighboring markets.
Igor Mostovoy, Product Director, CPaaS at 8x8, said, “Silent Mobile Authentication enables quick, secure user verification without the friction of traditional OTPs. In partnership with PLDT, we’re equipping businesses with innovative tools to protect their customers and maintain trust as digital adoption grows.” Armie Sason, Head of Key Industries Group 2 at PLDT Enterprise, added, “Together, we are enabling enterprises to protect their customers, reduce fraud, and support the Philippines’ ongoing digital transformation.”
The feature positions 8x8 to capture demand for secure, frictionless authentication in a market where over half of Filipinos report being scammed. By offering a differentiated security solution, 8x8 strengthens its competitive stance against CPaaS peers such as RingCentral, Vonage, and Dialpad, while reinforcing its strategy to grow revenue in high‑growth international markets.
