Expensify announced a partnership with the Institute of Commercial Payments (IOCP) that launches its Bring Your Own Card (BYOC) program, allowing businesses to connect existing bank‑issued corporate cards to Expensify’s expense‑management platform. The collaboration gives companies real‑time spend controls, automated expense processing, and instant visibility without requiring a switch to a new card issuer.

The BYOC initiative addresses a major barrier to adoption for many SMBs: the need to maintain existing banking relationships and reward programs. By enabling integration with current cards, Expensify can reduce implementation time from months to hours and preserve customers’ credit terms and loyalty benefits. This flexibility is expected to broaden Expensify’s reach in the commercial card market and strengthen its value proposition against competitors that mandate proprietary cards.

Daniel Vidal, Expensify’s Chief Strategy Officer, said, "Commercial card program managers have spent years building relationships with their banks, and they should be able to extend those investments with modern tools. BYOC allows companies to connect their existing corporate cards to Expensify and gain real‑time controls, automation, and visibility in minutes. IOCP brings together the professionals shaping this space, making it a natural place to share this approach." IOCP’s managing director, Laura Flandrick, added, "Expensify brings a timely message to the IOCP community as well as the broader Commercial Payments industry. Many program managers seek modern spend management tools that work with their existing bank relationships, an approach reflected in solutions like Expensify's BYOC program."

Expensify’s financial performance in the most recent reporting period provides context for the partnership. In Q4 2025 the company generated $35.2 million in revenue, a 5% decline year‑over‑year, and a net loss of $7.1 million. For the full fiscal year 2025, revenue totaled $142.1 million, up 2% YoY, while the net loss widened to $21.4 million. The partnership is therefore a strategic move to accelerate growth and improve profitability by tapping a larger customer base without the need for costly card‑issuer changes.

The partnership also coincides with Expensify’s participation in the IOCP Annual Commercial Card and Payment Conference, scheduled for April 27‑29 2026 in Scottsdale, Arizona. The event will provide a platform for Expensify to showcase the BYOC program to a community of over 19,000 commercial‑card professionals and to reinforce its positioning as a flexible, customer‑centric spend‑management solution.
