Ford’s first‑quarter 2026 U.S. vehicle sales fell 8.8% year‑over‑year to 457,315 units, the lowest level reported for the period since the company’s 2019 peak, a figure that has not been independently verified by available data.

The F‑Series pickup trucks remained the best‑selling line, with 159,901 units sold, a 16.0% decline from the 190,389 units delivered in the same quarter of 2025. The drop reflects a combination of supply‑chain adjustments and the planned phase‑out of the Escape and Lincoln Corsair models, which reduced overall truck volume.

Large SUVs drove a 17.9% increase in combined sales of the Explorer and Expedition. Explorer sales rose 29.7% from 47,314 units in Q1 2025 to 61,366 units, while Expedition sales climbed 30.2% from 13,482 units to 17,553 units, bringing the two models to 78,919 units in the quarter.

The Transit van maintained its top‑seller status with 34,248 units, underscoring the continued demand for Ford’s commercial‑vehicle platform even as overall sales decline.

Electrified‑vehicle sales plunged 34.8% to 48,019 units, with hybrids down 19.4% to 41,159 units and battery‑electric vehicles down 69.6% to 6,860 units. The sharp decline is attributed to the loss of federal EV tax credits, higher borrowing costs, and a broader slowdown in EV demand.

"The first quarter showed our team worked hard to maintain retail share and navigate a changing industry, while underlying demand remains strong for F‑Series, SUVs and the Ford Pro business," said Andrew Frick, president of Ford Blue and Model e.
