Flex LNG Secures New Two‑Year Time‑Charter for Flex Aurora

Flex LNG secured a new time‑charter for its 174,000 cbm LNG carrier Flex Aurora, a vessel built in 2020 with X‑DF two‑stroke propulsion. The charter, signed with a super‑major whose identity remains undisclosed, provides a minimum firm period of two years and includes options to extend the contract in two‑year increments, potentially locking the vessel in service until 2034.

The agreement adds a new minimum‑firm period to Flex LNG’s backlog, raising the firm backlog from 50 years to 55 years and potentially to 82 years if all options are exercised. This expansion strengthens the company’s revenue pipeline and enhances its competitive position in a market where long‑term charters are increasingly scarce.

The LNG shipping market has experienced depressed spot rates due to newbuild deliveries and project delays, but supply disruptions from attacks on energy infrastructure in March 2026 have tightened demand. Securing a long‑term charter amid these dynamics signals confidence in sustained demand and provides a hedge against spot‑rate volatility.

CEO Marius Foss said the charter “capitalizes on the firm momentum in the freight market” and that the vessel will be “trading in a firm spot market.” The agreement also gives Flex LNG two vessels in a firm spot market, enhancing operational flexibility.

Flex Aurora was redelivered from a previous 3.5‑year charter in the first half of March 2026, ensuring continuous employment and avoiding downtime. The daily charter rate was not disclosed.
