Avast, a Gen Digital brand, launched its Deepfake Guard feature for Windows PCs and rolled out the upgraded Scam Guardian and Scam Guardian Pro to mobile devices worldwide on February 3 2026. The new tools add AI‑powered detection of malicious audio embedded in video content, extending Avast’s existing scam‑blocking suite to a broader range of platforms.

Deepfake Guard uses on‑device AI to analyze audio and video in real time, delivering warnings to users on popular social media sites such as YouTube, Facebook and TikTok. The technology is designed to run on both traditional PCs and AI‑optimized machines, ensuring fast, privacy‑preserving protection without relying on cloud processing.

Gen Threat Labs reported 159,378 unique deepfake scams in Q4 2025, many of which were distributed through mainstream channels. By addressing this growing threat, Avast’s new feature provides a proactive shield for its 435 million users, helping them recognize manipulated media before falling victim to deception.

The launch aligns with Gen Digital’s broader strategy to embed AI across its cybersecurity portfolio. Deepfake Guard is included in the Avast Premium Security subscription, reinforcing the company’s focus on user‑centric protection and its commitment to staying ahead of evolving threats.

The feature is available worldwide at no additional cost to existing Premium Security subscribers, underscoring Avast’s intent to deliver advanced security capabilities without extra financial burden to its customer base.
