GE Vernova announced on April 23 2026 that it has secured agreements to supply 71.5 MW of onshore wind turbines to BBWind and Greenvolt Power for projects across Germany. The orders, booked in the fourth quarter of 2025, involve the company’s workhorse 6.1 MW‑158 m turbines and reinforce its long‑standing relationship with BBWind while expanding its footprint with Greenvolt.
The new contracts add to GE Vernova’s wind‑segment backlog and support its strategy to grow onshore wind deployments in Europe. The company’s manufacturing hub in Salzbergen, Germany, will supply the turbines, underscoring GE Vernova’s commitment to local production and the German energy transition.
The announcement followed a strong Q1 2026 earnings report that beat expectations and raised full‑year guidance. The earnings beat was driven by robust demand in the Power and Electrification segments—particularly data‑center infrastructure—while the Wind segment faced revenue decline and expected EBITDA losses for 2026. The new orders provide a positive addition to the renewable pipeline and help offset the wind segment’s headwinds.
Management highlighted the significance of the deals. Gilan Sabatier, GE Vernova’s Chief Commercial Officer for onshore wind, said the orders “demonstrate the trust our customers place in our workhorse turbines to deliver reliable, renewable energy.” Michael Schlüß of BBWind noted that the partnership “continues to ensure that local communities remain at the heart of Germany’s energy transition.”
The 71.5 MW of new capacity represents a meaningful expansion of GE Vernova’s presence in Germany, a key market for onshore wind. While the company’s installed capacity in Europe is much larger than 6 GW, the 6 GW figure applies specifically to Spain, and the German orders add to the broader European footprint.
The orders also come after GE Vernova completed the acquisition of the remaining 50 % stake in Prolec GE, strengthening its Electrification segment and supporting the company’s broader strategy to deliver integrated power solutions.
