GE Vernova Inc. announced on April 29, 2026 that it has secured an order from the Middle Delta Electricity Production Company (MDEPC), an affiliate of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, to modernize its Bahna and Nubaria power plants. The order includes Advanced Gas Path (AGP) upgrades for the two GE Vernova 9F gas turbines at Bahna and multiyear service agreements—15 years for Bahna and 8 years for Nubaria—expected to lift turbine output and efficiency by about 2%.
The contract builds on a decade of partnership with MDEPC. In 2016 GE Vernova upgraded Nubaria’s 9FA turbine, boosting output by 6.7% and cutting fuel consumption by 3%. The new AGP upgrades are designed to deliver up to 8% output increase and 2% heat‑rate reduction, aligning with global decarbonization trends.
The order expands GE Vernova’s presence in the Middle East and North Africa, adding to more than 60 gas and steam turbines already installed in Egypt, which together provide roughly 10 GW of capacity. The company’s Q1 2026 results showed orders of $18.3 billion, a 71% organic rise, and revenue of $9.3 billion, up 16% organically, underscoring a robust growth trajectory that this new contract supports.
Joseph Anis, President & CEO of GE Vernova’s Gas Power business for Europe, Middle East & Africa, said the upgrades “can help operators improve output, extend maintenance intervals, and enhance efficiency, while supporting more reliable power generation.” The 15‑year and 8‑year service agreements provide long‑term revenue streams and reinforce GE Vernova’s global service network.
The deal signals GE Vernova’s continued focus on electrification and decarbonization. By upgrading existing assets, the company can help operators reduce carbon emissions per megawatt‑hour while capturing new revenue opportunities in a region with growing energy demand.
