General Mills announced the relaunch of its La Tiara taco shell brand, which the company acquired in May 2025, and the brand will now be available nationwide for the first time.

The relaunch includes stone‑ground masa shells made from yellow and white corn, with original and new flavors Chorizo, Tinga, and Reduced Sodium. Distribution will be exclusive to Walmart stores beginning in April 2026.

The Gladstone, Missouri facility that produced the shells will reopen, creating more than 100 local jobs in production and distribution. The move responds to a strong regional demand, highlighted by a Facebook group with over 20,000 members.

Meredith Nelson Uram, General Mills’ Mexican Business Unit Director, said the company is "thrilled" to bring back the brand and to create jobs, noting the brand’s legacy and the national reach.

The relaunch is part of General Mills’ broader strategy to refresh its food portfolio and tap into the growing demand for convenient, ready‑to‑cook Mexican‑style products, reinforcing the company’s focus on consumer‑driven innovation.
