ERCOT has approved an additional 830 megawatts of power for Galaxy Digital’s Helios data‑center campus in West Texas, bringing the total ERCOT‑approved, LLIS‑complete, and utility‑contracted capacity to more than 1.6 gigawatts. The approval follows the completion of a Large Load Interconnection Study (LLIS) and a service agreement with AEP Texas, and is facilitated by Wind Energy Transmission Texas, LLC (WETT).

The LLIS, a rigorous analysis of grid impact and stability, cleared the Helios campus for the new capacity. WETT’s role as the transmission interconnection provider and AEP Texas’s service agreement ensure that the power will be delivered reliably to the site. This regulatory green light removes a major construction bottleneck and positions Helios to scale its operations without waiting for additional grid approvals.

CoreWeave, a leading AI‑and‑HPC workload provider, has signed a long‑term lease for the expanded capacity, with initial power delivery expected in early 2026. The partnership is expected to generate significant recurring revenue for Galaxy Digital and provides a proven customer base that will accelerate the campus’s go‑to‑market strategy. The 1.6 GW of approved power allows Helios to host multiple tenants and support the high‑density power demands of AI workloads, which are projected to grow at a compound annual rate of 30‑40% over the next decade.

Galaxy Digital’s pivot from cryptocurrency mining to a diversified AI and HPC platform is a strategic shift that could redefine its revenue mix. The Helios campus, once a Bitcoin‑mining facility, is now being repurposed into a hyperscale data‑center that can serve a broad range of AI and HPC customers. The approval not only expands the company’s physical footprint but also strengthens its competitive position against other hyperscale developers in Texas, a state that has become a leading hub for data‑center construction due to its abundant land, robust power infrastructure, and favorable regulatory environment.

Mike Novogratz, Founder and CEO of Galaxy Digital, said the approval “is a watershed moment that confirms our ability to execute hyperscale AI data‑center development.” He added that the 1.6 GW of power will enable the company to “grow our program and provide the reliable power infrastructure that the world’s leading AI companies require.” The approval signals confidence in Galaxy Digital’s long‑term strategy to diversify beyond crypto and into high‑growth infrastructure markets.
