General Motors announced that its myChevrolet, myGMC, and myCadillac mobile applications now provide direct access to the Electrify America public charging network, giving owners of GM electric vehicles instant visibility to more than 5,000 DC‑fast chargers, including 350‑kW Hyper‑Fast units, from a single app interface.
The integration removes the need for GM EV drivers to download and switch between multiple charging‑network apps. Through the MyBrand apps, users can search for available chargers, plan routes, and pay for sessions without leaving the vehicle’s infotainment system, thereby reducing range anxiety and streamlining the ownership experience.
This move is part of GM’s broader strategy to build a comprehensive EV ecosystem. Electrify America’s network spans 47 states and the District of Columbia, and the partnership gives GM access to a nationwide grid that already includes more than 5,000 DC‑fast connectors. By embedding the network into its own apps, GM positions itself ahead of competitors that rely on third‑party charging apps, strengthening customer loyalty and supporting the company’s goal of scaling electric‑vehicle sales.
Wade Sheffer, Vice President of GM Energy, said the collaboration “helps make public charging easier to access for GM EV drivers.” Robert Barrosa, CEO and President of Electrify America, added that the integration “provides GM drivers with more Hyper‑Fast chargers and a seamless experience they can count on nationwide.”
The integration is described as a low‑cost tactical play that leverages existing infrastructure and partnerships, with minimal direct impact on GM’s profit and loss. However, it signals a continued commitment to the EV ecosystem, potentially opening future revenue streams through charging‑related services and reinforcing GM’s competitive position in a market where convenience and network reliability are key differentiators.
