Genasys Inc. announced a multi‑year agreement with Davidson County, North Carolina, to deploy its Protect platform, a multi‑channel, zone‑based alerting and coordination system that will replace the county’s existing emergency management solution.

The county, which had a 2024 population estimate of 172,954 residents and a significant tourist influx, will use Protect’s mapping and targeted messaging features to enhance emergency response and public safety communications.

The new contract adds a recurring revenue stream for Genasys. In its first quarter of fiscal 2026, the company reported revenue of $17.1 million, up 145.9% from $6.9 million in the same quarter a year earlier, and a gross profit margin of 48.0% versus 45.8% in the prior year, underscoring strong demand and margin expansion.

Blake W. Lanning, Davidson County’s Emergency Management Coordinator, said, “Genasys stood out to us because of the mapping feature that comes with it. Most other providers just offer a mass notification system; Genasys offers mass notification as well as a mapping tool that can be utilized in our emergency operations center to send targeted, time‑efficient messages.” Stephen Sickler, Vice President of Genasys SaaS Field Operations, added, “Genasys distinguishes itself through flexible, intelligent zone‑based community communication, multi‑channel alerting, map‑based updates, actionable information, and clear, targeted messaging. Our Genasys Protect Mobile App also delivers real‑time alerts and essential information to residents and visitors, supporting public safety across rural areas, towns, cities, counties, and states.”

The contract demonstrates continued demand for Genasys Protect in municipal markets, strengthens the company’s public‑sector presence, and supports its strategy of integrating hardware and software for mission‑critical communications. It also adds a predictable, recurring revenue stream that aligns with Genasys’s growth trajectory and customer‑concentration profile.

Genasys’s broader pipeline includes a $75 million Emergency Warning System contract with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority and a Sourcewell contract that streamlines procurement for government entities, indicating a robust and expanding public‑sector portfolio.
