Alphabet Inc. has issued $15 billion of U.S. dollar bonds, structured in up to seven tranches with the longest maturity in 2066. Bloomberg reported that the pricing for the 2066 tranche is expected to carry a premium of about 1.2 percentage points above U.S. Treasury yields, reflecting confidence in Alphabet’s credit profile.

The bond sale follows a strong Q4 2025 earnings report in which Alphabet posted revenue of $113.8 billion, up 18% year‑over‑year, and earnings per share of $2.82, beating consensus estimates by $0.18. Revenue growth was driven by 17% expansion in Search and a 48% jump in Google Cloud, both powered by increased demand for AI‑enabled services.

Alphabet has forecast 2026 capital expenditures of $175–$185 billion, more than double the $91–$93 billion spent in 2025. The majority of this spend will fund AI compute capacity, new data‑center construction, and custom chip development. The bond proceeds provide liquidity to support this aggressive investment plan while preserving a strong balance sheet.

Analysts noted that the sizable capex forecast has raised concerns about free cash flow and margin pressure, tempering enthusiasm for the bond issuance. The premium pricing indicates that investors remain confident in Alphabet’s ability to service debt despite the upcoming capital outlays.

CEO Sundar Pichai emphasized that AI investments are already driving revenue growth and that the company remains well positioned to meet debt obligations. CFO Anat Ashkenazi highlighted that increased depreciation and energy costs will pressure the P&L, but higher‑margin AI services are expected to offset these impacts.

Alphabet’s bond sale is part of a broader trend of technology giants issuing debt to fund AI infrastructure, following similar moves by Meta and Oracle. The transaction underscores Alphabet’s commitment to a full‑stack AI strategy, aiming to control all layers of AI development from hardware to deployment.
