Shift Connect Ltd., a Canadian provider of foreign‑exchange and global‑payment services, announced that it will acquire Olympia Currency and Global Payments Inc., an Alberta‑based boutique firm that offers customized cross‑border payment solutions. The deal was disclosed on March 24, 2026 and is expected to close on or before March 31, 2026 after regulatory approval and customary closing conditions are satisfied.
The acquisition expands Shift Connect’s capabilities by adding Olympia’s client base and technology platform to its portfolio. The combined entity will be able to serve a broader range of merchants and financial institutions across North America, leveraging Shift Connect’s global banking network and Olympia’s personalized service model to deliver a more powerful, seamless experience for cross‑border transactions.
Olympia’s management said the sale allows the company to sharpen its strategic focus while positioning its currency‑and‑payments business for future growth. The transaction preserves the high‑touch service that Olympia’s clients have come to expect, now complemented by Shift Connect’s expanded platform and global reach.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The announcement clarified that the target is Olympia Currency and Global Payments Inc., not the multinational Global Payments Inc. (GPN) headquartered in Atlanta, GA, which recently completed a separate acquisition of Worldpay. The deal is subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions.
"We’re excited to welcome Olympia and its clients to Shift Connect. There is strong alignment between our organizations in how we approach service, relationships, and results. By bringing our platforms and expertise together, we’re able to deliver a more powerful, seamless experience while preserving the high‑touch service Olympia clients expect," said David Kelcher, CEO of Shift Connect. "This is a natural evolution for our business and our clients. Our clients will continue to receive the same level of personalized service they’ve come to rely on, now complemented by an expanded platform and global reach," added Neil McCullah, President of Olympia Global Payments. "This transaction allows Olympia to sharpen its strategic focus while ensuring that Olympia Currency and Global Payments is well positioned for its next phase of growth. We are confident that Shift Connect is a strong partner for the business, its clients, and its employees," said Craig Skauge, Executive Vice President of Olympia.
