Garmin introduced the D2 Mach 2 Pro, its first aviator smartwatch that combines inReach satellite and cellular connectivity with a premium 51‑mm case and a suggested retail price of $1,549.99. The new model builds on the 2025 D2 Mach 2, adding connectivity that allows pilots to stay in contact even when cellular coverage is unavailable.

The watch features a 1.4‑inch AMOLED display, advanced aviation maps, pilot health monitoring, SOS capabilities, and a battery life of up to 24 days in smartwatch mode. The case is 16.5 mm thick, slightly larger than the 14.7 mm case of the earlier D2 Mach 2, a trade‑off that reflects the added satellite and LTE hardware.

Garmin unveiled the device at the SUN 'n FUN Aerospace Expo, underscoring its commitment to the aviation market. The inReach satellite technology provides real‑time messaging and emergency SOS, a safety feature that sets Garmin apart from other smartwatch makers.

By adding subscription revenue from inReach services and expanding its premium watch lineup, Garmin aims to capture a higher‑margin segment of the wearable market. The D2 Mach 2 Pro’s advanced features strengthen Garmin’s aviation portfolio and reinforce its reputation for integrating navigation, safety, and connectivity in a single device.

The product launch highlights Garmin’s strategy to leverage its long‑standing aviation expertise and inReach ecosystem to create new hardware and recurring revenue streams while maintaining its broader fitness and outdoor watch offerings.
