Guidewire Software and Sompo Group announced a long‑term agreement to migrate Sompo’s global operations to the Guidewire Cloud Platform, extending a 12‑year partnership that began in 2014.
The migration will move Sompo’s PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter and BillingCenter from on‑premises to the cloud, starting with its commercial businesses and expanding to Sompo Direct Insurance in Japan.
The deal reinforces Guidewire’s cloud migration strategy, adds recurring subscription revenue, and deepens its ecosystem moat. By moving core systems to the cloud, Guidewire will support real‑time decision making, AI‑enabled analytics and a unified data foundation across Sompo’s global entities.
Guidewire’s ARR surpassed $1 billion in Q4 FY2025, driven by 17 cloud deals and strong demand. The Sompo agreement is expected to accelerate ARR growth and strengthen Guidewire’s competitive advantage in the P&C software market.
Guidewire shares rose 1.68% in pre‑market trading on February 18, 2026, reflecting investor confidence in the deal and the company’s cloud strategy.
"Mike Rosenbaum, CEO, said the partnership will support Sompo’s growth with a reliable technology foundation across core systems, data, digital engagement, and AI." "Daniel Englberger, Chief Operating Officer for Sompo’s international P&C business, said: ‘Guidewire has been a trusted partner throughout our 12‑year relationship, supporting not only our insurance technology needs but also providing guidance on our long‑term strategy. We are confident in the Guidewire product roadmap and look forward to working together on this transformation.’" "Katsuyuki Tajiri, Deputy President of Sompo Japan Insurance, added: ‘Our previous policy administration, underwriting, and billing systems faced challenges related to scalability, efficiency, and maintaining long‑term accuracy. Guidewire Cloud Platform will improve operational efficiency, strengthen data analytics, and support sound decision‑making. It will also enable us to deliver better service and faster response times to our customers, enhancing their engagement with us.’"
