GXO Logistics announced that it will operate London Luton Airport’s first consolidation centre, a facility that will screen and manage every delivery to the airport. The hub will handle hundreds of thousands of airside deliveries, streamlining the flow of goods to the airport’s 40 shops and restaurants and improving both efficiency and sustainability.

The consolidation centre will be housed in one of three repurposed hangars as part of an £11.5 million refurbishment programme that also adds new aircraft engineering and repair hangars. The project is expected to create 150 jobs and will feature GXO’s proprietary STREAM IT system, which monitors, reports and manages service levels in real time.

GXO has been operating consolidation centres at major UK airports since 2006, and the Luton partnership expands its presence in the UK airport sector. The move positions GXO to capture growing demand for secure, efficient delivery solutions in the rapidly expanding UK aviation market, where passenger traffic at Luton rose to more than 17.5 million in 2025 from 16.7 million in 2024.

London Luton Airport has achieved Level 4 of the Airport Carbon Accreditation scheme, and the new centre supports the airport’s sustainability goals by reducing the environmental impact of freight handling. The partnership also aligns with GXO’s strategy to leverage its logistics expertise across the UK’s growing network of airports.

GXO’s recent financial performance provides context for the partnership. In Q3 2025 the company reported revenue of $3.40 billion, up 7.5 % year‑over‑year, and earnings per share of $0.79, a beat of $0.01 against consensus estimates. The company’s net margin was 0.69 % and operating margin 3.18 %, while its debt‑to‑equity ratio stood at 1.86 and its Altman Z‑Score was 1.57, indicating a mixed picture of growth and financial risk.

"As air travel continues to grow, consolidation centres play a pivotal role in driving efficiencies and improving sustainability for airport groups," said Martin Cooper, Managing Director of Technology and Consumer Goods at GXO UK and Ireland. "The partnership with London Luton Airport demonstrates how a smarter, more efficient and streamlined logistical approach can deliver tangible benefits for both the airport and its commercial tenants," added Neil Thompson, Chief Operations Officer at London Luton Airport.
