Harmonic Inc. (HLIT) announced that its fiber‑on‑demand solution, powered by the company’s cOS virtualized broadband platform, will be deployed by Taiwan‑based broadband operator KBRO to expand its next‑generation access network. The partnership enables KBRO to activate advanced fiber services directly from existing Harmonic Oyster Remote‑PHY nodes, eliminating redundant infrastructure and aligning network expansion with revenue opportunities.
KBRO will use the solution to support its DOCSIS high‑split modernization strategy and to deploy XGS‑PON for multi‑gigabit speeds. By leveraging Harmonic’s existing nodes, KBRO can deliver fiber where demand is strongest, reducing capital outlay and accelerating service rollout across its network.
For Harmonic, the deal is a key step in its transition to a pure‑play broadband provider. The company is in the process of divesting its Video business, and the partnership adds a significant operator to its growing list of deployments worldwide. In 2025, APAC accounted for only 2% of Harmonic’s revenue, with the Americas contributing 89%; the KBRO win therefore represents a strategic push to increase the company’s presence in the region and expand its addressable network‑upgrade business.
Harmonic’s Q4 2025 earnings reflected a challenging environment: the company reported an EPS of $0.06, missing consensus estimates, and experienced a year‑over‑year revenue decline. The partnership with KBRO provides a tangible revenue opportunity that aligns with Harmonic’s focus on broadband infrastructure and supports the company’s broader strategy of scaling its cOS platform in high‑growth markets.
"We see the future of the broadband market in Taiwan to be defined by fiber‑deep innovation and scalable infrastructure. Our focus is on providing outstanding broadband experiences to our customers while managing our investments responsibly. Expanding our partnership with Harmonic enables us to deploy fiber where demand is strongest and efficiently deliver next‑generation broadband speeds across our network," said PK Lee, Vice President of Engineering at KBRO.
