Harmonic announced on March 18, 2026 that its XOS Advanced Media Processor now supports Dolby Vision HDR with look‑management, Dolby Atmos object‑based audio, and advanced codecs such as VVC, LCEVC and MPEG‑H audio. The upgrade also adds native support for SRT and RIST IP‑delivery protocols, enabling broadcasters to migrate from legacy C‑band satellite to Ku‑band and IP distribution without sacrificing quality.

The new capabilities reduce bandwidth and infrastructure costs while delivering high‑quality, low‑latency video. By integrating playout, encoding and gateway functions into a single appliance, the XOS processor cuts deployment complexity and capital expenditures for DTV+ services, particularly in Brazil where the cost of deploying the new standard has been a barrier.

Harmonic’s vice‑president of video appliances and software product management, Stéphane Cloirec, said, "Broadcasters around the world are navigating major transformations, from spectrum reallocations to migrations to next‑generation television standards like ATSC 3.0 and DTV+," and added, "With newly enhanced capabilities, our XOS Advanced Media Processor eases these transitions, helping broadcasters modernize operations, deliver richer viewing experiences and reduce infrastructure complexity."

The announcement comes as Harmonic is in the process of selling its Video business to LeoneMedia Inc. (MediaKind), with the transaction expected to close in the first half of 2026. The XOS enhancements therefore represent a final push to maximize the value of the divested segment while positioning the remaining Broadband business for future growth.

Harmonic plans to demonstrate the upgraded platform at the 2026 NAB Show in Las Vegas (April 19‑22). The showcase will highlight the processor’s ability to support next‑generation television standards and multi‑stream delivery, reinforcing Harmonic’s competitive edge in a market where broadcasters seek cost‑effective, software‑defined solutions for high‑definition and immersive audio experiences.
