Honda Fastport announced a partnership with Bird and Spin to launch its eQuad micromobility vehicle in the United States beginning in 2026. The first deployments will occur on university campuses and in major metropolitan areas, positioning the eQuad as a purpose‑built, battery‑swap‑friendly vehicle for dense urban logistics.
The eQuad is a four‑wheeled, all‑electric, pedal‑assist vehicle designed to fit in bike lanes. It uses Honda’s Mobile Power Pack batteries, which can be swapped in minutes, and features regenerative braking and modular cargo configurations to support last‑mile delivery and fleet‑management tasks.
The partnership expands Honda’s micromobility footprint and gives Bird and Spin a zero‑emission vehicle that can reduce operating costs and improve fleet efficiency. Bird, which was acquired by Third Lane Mobility in 2024 after a Chapter 11 filing, will use the eQuad for battery swapping, vehicle rebalancing, and routine maintenance, while Spin will deploy the vehicle in its own operations.
The micromobility market is projected to grow substantially through 2030, and the eQuad’s design addresses key pain points in urban delivery, such as congestion, emissions, and the need for vehicles that can navigate bike lanes. The partnership also aligns with city “vision zero” goals, offering a more economical solution for municipal transportation objectives.
"We created Fastport and our eQuad micromobility vehicle to address rising urban congestion, emissions, and operating costs where full‑size commercial vehicles are less practical," said Jose Wyszogrod, General Manager of Fastport. "With Fastport products now commercially available, we're proud to partner with Bird and Spin in urban fleet operations to help better serve their customers' micromobility needs on select university campuses." "The partnership between Bird and Fastport is really about bringing a zero‑emissions fleet to support vision zero goals in a way that's more economical for our business, truly a win‑win‑win," added Stewart Lyons, CEO of Third Lane Mobility.
"The vehicles we use in the field are integral in supporting cities to achieve their most critical transportation goals."
