Hertz Car Sales has opened a dedicated digital showroom on eBay, listing more than 8,000 Hertz‑Certified near‑new vehicles. Each car undergoes a 115‑point inspection and comes with a 12‑month/12,000‑mile limited warranty, while eBay’s Secure Purchase program covers payment, financing, registration, ownership transfer, transport, and up to $100,000 in purchase protection.
The move extends Hertz’s retail strategy beyond its own website and the Amazon Autos partnership, giving shoppers on eBay access to a broad inventory of certified vehicles backed by the Hertz brand. By leveraging eBay’s large customer base and trusted buying experience, the company aims to increase sales volume, improve margin capture, diversify revenue streams, and reduce reliance on traditional auction sales.
"Building on our strengthened retail channels and existing partnerships, establishing a presence with eBay is a natural next step. It gives us access to millions of in‑market shoppers on a trusted platform, supports a scalable retail model, reduces our reliance on wholesale channels, and puts our near‑new, certified inventory in front of more customers than ever before," said Chris Berg, Executive Vice President of Global Fleet Management at Hertz.
The expansion is part of Hertz’s broader “Back to Basics” transformation, which has already produced a $2 billion improvement in profitability in the company’s first full year under the strategy. The company’s Q4 2025 results showed a narrowed net loss and a focus on cost control, fleet optimization, and customer experience—factors that support the expected upside from the eBay partnership.
Hertz Car Sales operates 46 locations nationwide, and the new eBay showroom complements its physical presence by offering customers a convenient online channel to browse and purchase certified vehicles. The addition of eBay to the digital retail mix signals a continued push toward a profit‑accretive car‑sales model that balances online and offline touchpoints.
