Interactive Brokers Launches Crypto Portfolio Transfers, Expanding Integrated Trading Platform

Interactive Brokers introduced a new crypto portfolio transfer capability that lets clients move digital asset holdings between exchanges without selling and rebuying, reducing transaction costs and improving liquidity. The feature, announced on March 24, 2026, is part of the firm’s broader strategy to deepen its crypto offering.

The transfer tool removes a key friction point for traders who previously had to liquidate positions to switch platforms. By enabling direct transfers, IBKR lowers the cost of moving crypto and keeps positions intact, which is expected to increase trading volume and client retention across both retail and institutional segments.

The launch follows a series of crypto milestones. In January 2026, IBKR added stablecoin funding, allowing clients to deposit USDC and other stablecoins. The new transfer feature builds on that foundation and aligns with the company’s roadmap that includes stablecoin deposits, asset transfers, and staking. IBKR already supports stablecoin deposits and plans to add RLUSD and PYUSD.

Market reaction to the announcement was positive, with the company’s stock rising 4.9% after the news. Investors view the transfer capability as a competitive advantage that could attract users from specialized exchanges and strengthen IBKR’s position in the rapidly growing digital asset market.

Management emphasized the benefit of integrated trading. CEO Milan Galik said, “Crypto investors should be able to access competitive crypto pricing and diversified investment opportunities without managing multiple accounts or liquidating their positions. By enabling direct crypto portfolio transfers, we’re making it easy for traders to benefit from IBKR’s low‑cost crypto trading and gain access to our full range of global markets within the same professional trading environment.” The move underscores IBKR’s commitment to offering a unified platform for traditional and digital assets.
