Infosys has finished a large‑scale data‑modernization program for CSX Corporation, a leading rail‑based freight transportation company. The project, built on Infosys Topaz, Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Purview, consolidated more than 50,000 legacy reports into 1,200 actionable insights, creating a single, governed cloud‑native platform for the carrier.
The modernization unified CSX’s data landscape across 28 domains and produced over 170 data products that can be leveraged by AI accelerators and self‑serve analytics. The new platform delivers real‑time analytics, governance and a foundation for predictive maintenance, logistics optimization and operational intelligence, according to CSX’s senior data and analytics officer.
"Our strategic collaboration with CSX and Microsoft reflects Infosys' commitment to helping enterprises become AI‑first. By leveraging Microsoft Fabric and our Infosys Topaz™ offerings, we delivered a unified, governed data platform that empowers CSX to anticipate disruptions, optimize operations, elevate customer experience and improve employee productivity," said Karmesh Vaswani, EVP & Global Head, Consumer, Retail & Logistics, Infosys. "CSX's journey with Infosys Topaz™ exemplifies the power of Microsoft Fabric to unify and modernize enterprise data estates at scale. By leveraging Microsoft Fabric's intelligent, agentic data platform and robust governance capabilities, CSX has accelerated time‑to‑insight and enabled real‑time analytics across critical business domains," added Arun Ulag, President, Azure Data, Microsoft. "Collaborating with Infosys Topaz™ and Microsoft has enabled CSX to fundamentally transform our data landscape. By modernizing our reporting and analytics platform with Microsoft Fabric, we've consolidated over 50,000 legacy reports into just 1,200 actionable insights, empowering our teams with real‑time intelligence and AI‑driven decision‑making," said John Maio, AVP, Enterprise Data & Analytics, CSX.
Infosys’s recent Q3 FY26 results reinforce the significance of the CSX program. The company reported revenue of ₹45,479 crore, up 8.9% year‑on‑year, and an EPS of $0.21, beating the consensus estimate of $0.20. Management raised its full‑year revenue guidance to 3.0%‑3.5% from 2.0%‑3.0% and maintained operating‑margin guidance at 20%‑22%. These results demonstrate strong execution and confidence in the company’s AI‑first strategy, which the CSX project exemplifies.
The CSX modernization illustrates Infosys’s strategy of combining proprietary AI platforms with vendor consolidation to secure high‑value contracts. By delivering a comprehensive data‑modernization solution to a major transportation client, Infosys reinforces its competitive moat and expands its footprint in the logistics and transportation sector, a key growth area for its AI‑first services model.
The completion of the program positions CSX to unlock new opportunities in predictive maintenance and logistics optimization, while for Infosys it validates the scalability of its Topaz platform and strengthens its reputation as a leader in AI‑enabled data transformation for large enterprises.
