Intel announced the launch of its Core Series 3 mobile processors, built on the 18A process node that also powers the higher‑end Core Ultra Series 3. The new chips are tailored for mobile and small‑business use, aiming to deliver higher performance and longer battery life for students, families, and small‑business users while supporting everyday AI workloads.
The processors deliver up to 40 TOPS of AI performance and include several performance‑and‑efficiency gains: up to 2.1× faster creation and productivity, 64 % lower processor power, 2.7× AI GPU performance, 47 % better single‑thread performance, 41 % better multi‑thread performance, and 2.8× better GPU AI performance compared with a five‑year‑old PC. Connectivity options include Thunderbolt 4, Intel Wi‑Fi 7 (R2), and Intel Bluetooth 6.
Manufactured on Intel’s 18A process node—the most advanced logic node produced in the United States—the Core Series 3 benefits from RibbonFET gate‑all‑around transistors and PowerVia backside power delivery, delivering significant performance‑per‑watt and chip‑density improvements. The 18A node is also used for the Core Ultra Series 3, positioning the Core Series 3 as a value‑focused counterpart to the higher‑end platform.
Intel plans to supply the chips to OEM partners starting in April 2026, with more than 70 designs expected. The launch expands Intel’s consumer and commercial portfolio and signals the company’s continued push to capture the growing demand for AI‑enabled mobile computing. By offering a balance of performance, power efficiency, and AI readiness, Intel aims to strengthen its position against AMD and ARM‑based solutions in the PC and embedded markets.
"At a time when prices are rising and expectations are shifting, Intel Core Series 3 elevates value‑oriented computing with exceptional battery life, boosted AI‑ready performance, and broad ecosystem choice. By delivering the latest IP with modern, purpose‑designed silicon and right‑sized performance, we’re expanding access to better technology that meets the real‑world needs of students, families, small businesses, and edge deployments at a scale that no other company can match," said Josh Newman, General Manager and Vice President of Consumer PC, Client Computing Group.
The Core Series 3 launch underscores Intel’s strategy to broaden its AI‑enabled offerings and strengthen its competitive position, while leveraging its advanced 18A manufacturing technology to deliver value‑oriented performance and battery life for a wide range of mobile and small‑business customers.
