Samsara Inc. unveiled its first industry‑first dynamic Smart Compliance solution for fleets operating across the European Union and the United Kingdom on April 21, 2026. The platform combines AI‑driven safety analytics, real‑time telematics, and comprehensive regulatory workflows into a single, centralized experience designed to keep fleets compliant and drivers safe.

The solution delivers in‑cab alerts that warn drivers before infractions occur, a dashboard that consolidates tachograph downloads and infringement resolution, and VDO‑powered rulesets that cover 17 European countries. Digital coaching workflows transform driver debriefs into actionable insights, aiming to reduce fines—up to £5,000 per infringement—and improve driver retention.

Samsara’s launch targets a market where 60% to 80% of EU fleets operate across borders, a segment that will face new July 2026 regulations for cross‑border light commercial vehicles over 2.5 tonnes. By eliminating fragmented legacy systems, the platform positions Samsara as a one‑stop shop for cross‑border operators and addresses a critical pain point for a large portion of the industry.

Praveen Murugesan, VP of Engineering EMEA, said, "Our customers' operations in Europe are some of the most complex in the world, and there is a huge opportunity to use AI to spot risks and avoid infringements. Smart Compliance takes the guesswork out of compliance by automating the toil that office teams grapple with every day. We're super excited to provide the technology that keeps these essential supply chains moving safely."

Ryan Yu, Vice President of Products, added, "With these new capabilities, we are solving two problems that every fleet leader talks to us about: staying compliant, and keeping drivers safe on the road. Our work with VDO means customers can finally manage compliance across Europe in one place, with confidence."

Matt Crossland, UK Area Manager at Mulgrew Haulage Ltd, noted, "Previously, we would wait for the infringement report and deal with everything in bulk, which could take most of the day. Now everything is in one place—the infringement, manager response, and driver acknowledgement—and it takes about two minutes per infringement with Smart Compliance."

The partnership with VDO and the integration of 17-country rulesets give Samsara a competitive edge in a market where other solutions offer a patchwork of tools. By expanding beyond traditional telematics and safety, the launch strengthens Samsara’s strategy to capture a larger share of the connected operations market in Europe and the UK.
