IperionX Limited received a $0.3 million prototype purchase order from American Rheinmetall to produce 700 lightweight titanium components for U.S. Army heavy ground combat systems. The components will be manufactured in the United States using IperionX’s patented Hydrogen Assisted Metallothermic Reduction (HAMR) and Hydrogen Sintering and Phase Transformation (HSPT) technologies, which allow production of high‑performance titanium from 100 % recycled feedstock and deliver parts that are 40–45 % lighter than equivalent steel components.

The order marks a significant milestone for IperionX, the only domestic commercial‑scale producer of primary titanium metal. By securing a contract with a major defense contractor, the company demonstrates the viability of its low‑carbon, low‑cost titanium platform and positions itself as a key supplier in the U.S. critical‑metal supply chain.

Delivery of the prototype components is expected within eight to nine months, with phased production and delivery milestones that will allow American Rheinmetall to evaluate performance before a larger agreement is pursued.

The prototype order underscores growing demand for lightweight, high‑performance titanium in defense applications. It aligns with the U.S. Army’s modernization efforts to improve vehicle acceleration, range, and survivability, and it supports IperionX’s 2027 capacity expansion target of 1,400 tpa.

HAMR and HSPT technologies enable IperionX to produce titanium at lower energy intensity and emissions than conventional processes, while also reducing material costs. The use of 100 % recycled feedstock further enhances the environmental profile of the production chain.

American Rheinmetall is the sole qualified supplier for all major ground combat vehicle platforms in the U.S. Army fleet, making this partnership a critical entry point into the defense supply chain and a validation of IperionX’s technology for high‑stakes applications.

If the prototype delivery meets performance expectations, the order could lead to a larger contract that would accelerate IperionX’s growth trajectory and solidify its role as a cornerstone of the U.S. titanium supply chain.
